Daniel Owen is the author of the poetry books Restaurant Samsara (Furniture Press,2018), winner of the 2017 Furniture Press Poetry Prize, and Toot Sweet (United Artists Books, 2015), and the chapbook Authentic Other Landscape (Diez, 2013). From 2009 to 2014 he co-edited and produced the poetry zines Sun’s Skeleton and Poems by Sunday. Recent writing has been published in Counter, Hyperallergic, Vestiges, and The Recluse.
Since 2012 he has worked with the Brooklyn-based publishing collective Ugly Duckling Presse, and has edited and designed various and sundry books for UDP, including Mirtha Dermisache’s Selected Writings (co-published with Siglio Press), Hirato Renkichi’s Spiral Staircase (translated by Sho Sugita), and Jacqueline Water’s Commodore, among many others. He currently serves as UDP’s Publicity Director.
Daniel’s translation of Afrizal Malna’s Document Shredding Museum was published in 2019 by Reading Sideways Press. Excerpts from this translation won Asymptote Journal’s 2019 Close Approximations Translation Contest and have been published in Mekong Review, The Brooklyn Rail, A Perfect Vacuum, Washington Square Review, and Dispatches.
